My Southern sorority girl babysitters called me “Hayleybird.”
I’ve used the nickname as my online identity for years, following early Internet guidance to teens & young adults not to use our full names online (hence the AIM screen name kitcatgirl711, #neverforget). As I’ve developed two parallel creative careers in acting & copywriting+, a couple things became apparent: 1) as an actor, “Hayley Brown” is my brand & using “hayleybird” is confusing; & 2) “hayleybird” still feels like me & it makes for a pretty good brand name for a freelancer offering creative services. So here we are, at hayleybird.com. Welcome. Here are a few random things about me:
I recently spent 6 months living in Mexico, learning Spanish & working remotely.
I once performed as a messenger riding an uncontrollable unicorn in a production of Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare’s most violent play.
I grew up in Athens, GA, birthplace of R.E.M., The B-52’s, & of Montreal, among other great bands. I lied about my age to see of Montreal at the 40 Watt Club many times.
I hate olives, but good bread dipped in olive oil is my favorite snack.
Karaoke is my favorite activity.
I’ve never had the pleasure of seeing Hamilton live, but I know every word. Every. Word.
I love dressing up, bright-colored eyeshadow, glitter, & a theme.
The pandemic did weird things to performers. I created “Sean Connery as Sherlock Holmes as Dogberry” for a monologue competition.
